WHAT IS THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER?

Thermoplastic elastomers, also known as TPE ('thermoplastic elastomers) or thermoplastic "rubbers", are a class of polymers or physical mixture of polymers (generally a plastic and a rubber) that give rise to materials with thermoplastic and elastomeric characteristics. Whereas the usual elastomers, for example silicone, rubber-rubber, polyurethane foam, etc., are thermoset, the thermoplastic elastomers are, on the other hand, relatively easy to use in the manufacture, for example, in injection molding. TPEs combine the typical advantages of rubber and plastic materials.
