Shipments to the Canary Islands from the Peninsula, Spain

Shipments from Spain mainland to the Canary Islands are more desired in recent years to be able to get good products at good prices than with shipping costs, dispatch, etc. They are elevated to "prohibited" products due to their costs and procedures in general.

Our company has made an effort to unblock this isolation and offer its products such as hotel amenities and hotel equipment to customers in the Canary Islands such as hotels, tourist apartments, and today also with disposable products and PPE clothing in addition to products such as surgical masks , hydroalcoholic gel, etc.

To boost online shopping, the Canary Islands Government introduced in 2019 a new measure to boost purchases , with an amount of up to € 150 exempt from IGIC and customs procedures. If the order value is greater than 150%, the DUA must be filled in.
The DUA obligation depends on the amount, as we have already mentioned. For orders under € 150, it is not necessary. For orders of higher value, if it is mandatory .

The puzzle doesn't end here. Since then the online store has to deal with knowing declaring the merchandise in English, its value and also a TARIC code. Its name comes from the acronym TARif Intégré Communautaire in French, it means common integrated tariff. It is a tariff code that allows grouping types of merchandise and is used in customs control.

For online purchases at stores in the Peninsula, the customer does not pay for the peninsular VAT, but pays the IGIC (General Indirect Canary Tax) in the tax return. On the one hand, you must indicate that there are different IGIC tranches depending on the item we buy, as some items are recorded by AIEM ( Insular Merchandise Entry Tax ) for protect the local Canarian product to a greater or lesser extent. All items that enter the Canary Islands have to make the customs declaration before the Canary Islands administration, being recorded from € 150 for a purchase. If it is recorded by AIEM, this procedure will have to be done regardless of the price.

Finally, our company has adapted its online store of amenities, equipment, disposables, PPE, etc. to include in the shipping costs (if any), also the import clearance upon arrival of the shipment to the Canary Islands.
The shipping from our logistics center in Madrid, Spain to the Islands is free by sea for orders over 300 € without taxes , and the customer pays additional € 40 for orders less than € 150 or additional € 30 for an amount less than € 299.
